 THE 21-DAY EQUITY CHALLENGE IS A POWERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW INEQUITY AND RACISM AFFECT OUR LIVES AND OUR COMMUNITY. JOIN US BY ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE HERE! Challenge will go live on Oct 1.

This 21-Day Social and Equity Challenge has been inspired by Dr. Eddie J. Moore, Jr., Director of the Privilege Institute and creator of the 21 Day Challenge. Dr. Moore designed the challenge to not only help people better understand the issues surrounding equity and inclusion, but to do so in a way that would build a long-lasting habit of learning .

You, along with countless other community members, commit to deepening your understanding of and willingness to confront racism, bias and other social inequities.

  • Community members can participate as individuals or as a part of a workplace, place of worship, professional association, book club or more.

  • Daily topics include Understanding Bias, School Inequality, Intersectionality, Building a Culture of Equity and many more.

  • Challenges include links to recommended articles, videos, podcasts, reflections and more.

Over a hundred community members and organizations participated in this challenge in 2021 and even more participated in 2022. We encourage you and your networks to go on this journey together to elevate our joint understanding. This is a program that was designed to be repeated and taken with fellow community members.

In 2023, our team has listened to the feedback and have evolved this challenge to be more inclusive of families undergoing the learning journey together. We have kept the original 21-day challenge and have also added two new tracks for learning - a 10-day equity challenge track targeted for K-8 graders and a 4-part equity challenge for high schoolers (Extra Credit option). As with the original challenge, this journey is best experienced together in community.

Welcome!

Each day's learning on 4 grounding principles:

  1. Balance: keeping things simple without losing nuance, balancing BIPOC (Black, Indigeneous, People Of Color) pain and inequity with BIPOC joy and accomplishments

  2. Engagement & Action: keeping learners engaged and encouraging action in the process for the challenge and beyond

  3. Learning: keeping the current breadth of topics while encouraging and naming the need for depth of learning

  4. Localization: when possible, providing geographically local context to the learning topic
